MRI-Based Surgical Robots

  • MRI-P - Closed bore MRI-based remote controlled prostate surgery
    Development of a new closed-bore MRI-compatible robotic system for image-guided prostatic interventions: ablation, brachytherapy, and biopsy. The first stage of development addresses only laser-based ablation. The robot actuators are ultrasonic motors. The development covers MRI-compatibility, image-guided therapy, and robot control accuracy.

  • MRI-B - Closed bore MRI-based remote controlled brain surgery
    Development of a modular tele-operated system for MRI-closed bore guided neurosurgery with application to brain biopsy. Other neurosurgical procedures such as thermal ablation, radiofrequency ablation, deep brain stimulators DBS, and targeted drug delivery could be also addressed considering the modular structure of the robot system.

Modular and Reconfigurable Robots

  • MRR - Modular and reconfigurable robot series
    MRR is constituted from joint and link modules that are assembled in various configurations. The modules are easily integrated into configurations that could fit various task requirements. These are open-architecture robots, suitable for R&D in robotics. ESI offers single joint and link modules, as well as complete robots.
